Cardiff-upper Mineral

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

7500-10400', angles over 40°, all aspects

Snow conditions

An inch or so of snow from instability showers added to the 8-10" storm total. Light winds from the south moved minimal snow. Sluffing of the new snow continues on slopes over 40° but those lack punch, unless confined in a gully or other terrain feature.

Weather

Overcast skies, with light snow most of the day. South winds early, decreasing to less than 15 mph. Moderate temperatures.

Evaluation

Good stability with new snow sluffing and scattered shallow wind drifts, mainly on east facing aspects. Weather forecast is suggesting partly cloudy skies so daytime heating may activate new snow instability on aspects exposed to sun.
